A beautiful handmade vintage Japanese tea bowl. Porcelain ceramic body. Gold and on-glaze enamel. Clear glaze with gold detailing. Black/brown glaze in the interior of the tea bowl. Chinese children or karako (a popular theme that is often seen on the linings of kimono jackets)

Karako (唐子) is a Japanese term used in art with the depiction of Chinese children playing. The literal translation means "Tang children".https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karako

Kyo -yaki, hand painted and signed (stamp) on the base of the bowl. Bowl stands 6.5 cm high and measures 12 cm across at the rim.

Kyo-yaki refers to a style of tea bowl originating Kyoto, where artist and refined on-glaze enamel style was favoured over other tea bowl style. Tea bowls are generally decorated on 3/4 of the bowl with the section that you drink from left undecorated. On-glaze is normally fired several times, especially where gold has been added, so bowls do not always ring true when struck. (the glaze and the body of the clay contract at different rates).

Hand-painted and vintage they are not suitable for microwave or dishwasher!
Now you can have your own tea ceremony. Great for tea or display.
